Regional leaders Joyner, Murphy, Wilson join New North board of directors

Trio brings strong expertise in important regional industries of education, law and hospitality

NEW NORTH, October 18, 2023 – Three regional leaders — Laurie Joyner of St. Norbert College, Brick Murphy of Ruder Ware and Jameson Wilson of the Oneida Nation – have joined the board of directors of New North Inc., the regional economic development corporation for the 18 counties of Northeast Wisconsin. They were advanced by New North’s board development committee earlier this month and subsequently approved by the Board.

“We are pleased to have Laurie, Brick and Jameson join the New North board,” says Barb LaMue, president and CEO of New North Inc. “St. Norbert has long been an educational leader in the region, and Laurie brings a fresh perspective to the board, having recently relocated to the New North. We also appreciate having the voice of a community pillar, the Oneida Nation, through Jameson, and a legal perspective through Brick and Ruder Ware.

Laurie Joyner is president of St. Norbert College, a four-year, Catholic liberal arts college of approximately 2,000 students located in De Pere. She became the college’s ninth president – and first woman to lead the institution – in July of this year. Joyner previously had served as president of St. Xavier University in Chicago (2016-23) and Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio (2012-16), following more than a decade of leadership experience at Rollins College (2007-12) and Loyola University New Orleans (2003-07). She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Loyola University New Orleans, along with master’s and doctoral degrees in sociology from Tulane University.

Brick Murphy is a mergers and acquisitions and real estate transactional attorney in the Green Bay office of Ruder Ware, a Wisconsin law firm with offices in Wausau, Eau Claire and Green Bay. He has practiced law in Green Bay for more than a quarter-century. Prior to joining Ruder Ware, Murphy served as in-house counsel for a national telecom firm he had represented for more than 20 years while working for another local law firm. He earned his undergraduate and legal degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Jameson Wilson is a newly elected Council Member for the Oneida Business Committee (OBC), which is the governing body of the Oneida Nation and consists of nine members. The Oneida Nation is a Federally recognized tribe that operates local businesses in multiple industries, including entertainment, lodging/conferences, banking, gas stations/convenience stores, land management, and engineering and construction. He joined the operations of Oneida Nation in June 2018 as an aquaponics coordinator. In 2019, Wilson became an Executive Assistant for the OBC and transitioned to Project Coordinator for the Government Administrative Office in January 2021. He previously spent five years locally in sales. Wilson holds an associate degree in business management from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and a bachelor’s degree in environmental planning and policy from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
